Exam tomorrow :/

I’ve got a crazy hard linear algebra exam tomorrow that I’m not at all ready for. I’ve kept up on the homework, though I can submit that digitally, and so rather than actually going to lectures and trying to learn stuff, I’ve just been staying home watching TV shows, even though that was probably the wrong thing to do. Anyway it’s practically midnight so I really shouldn’t be writing a blog post and instead should either be studying or sleeping, but I am the king of procrastination, and my exam isn’t until noon so I don’t have to go to bed until like 2 am. That gives me like two hours to go back and read the first 3 chapters of the text book to review for the exam. Crap I don’t really have all that much time do I? All right rather than rabble along about nothing here I’ll just go read about nullspaces and ranges and dimensions and stuff now :/.

Last.fm

Last.fm is such an awesome website for discovering new music artists. If you go to the page of a band you like and check out the Similar Artists list, 9 times out of 10 you’ll also like at least some songs by those other artists. For example, I like Groove Coverage, so I went to the Last.fm page for them and discovered several other bands like Cascada, Baracuda, and Novaspace, which also play pretty sweet music. There’s also a radio feature on each artist’s page which will basically play songs by that artist and similar music, which is pretty nice. Grooveshark and Pandora also have similar radio features, though I haven’t used those enough yet to determine which site’s streaming music radio thing is best. All of the artists and songs are tagged with various labels like dance, techno, and electronica, so its easy to look up the most prominent bands by genre/tag. Like the top result when you search for the tag “futurepop” is VNV Nation which makes sense as that band basically defined that genre, followed by Covenant and Apoptygma Berzerk. Anyway I’m going to rewatch the Matrix Revolutions on my new monitor now. Definitely check out Last.fm if you haven’t already.

New monitor

Last week I ordered a new 23 inch Asus monitor from newegg and today it came in the mail. Ever since I installed it and made my older 15 inch monitor my secondary monitor, I’ve been playing Starcraft 2 constantly with it. Starcraft 2 at the Ultra settings at 1920×0180 resolution look absolutely magnificent. The original Starcraft ran at a resolution of 640×480, so the difference is like night and day. That said, I’ve finally been demoted back to the Platinum league :) . Oh I guess I should explain… I used to be in the Diamond league but then I started getting 6-pooled and reaper rushed every game, so I decided I no longer wanted to be in Diamond league and started playing with just my mouse until I got back into Platinum. I like being in Platinum again since now I have more leeway to try and practice new strategies. I’m also stilll using my 15 inch monitor to watch old Stargate episodes or youtube videos while I play Starcraft, which is fun.
